More About What’s to Come:
The goal of this manual is to provide step-by-step guidance for instrument development, starting with in-depth, open-ended, but rapid community-based qualitative methods to understand the construct of focus. The manuals will then guide researchers through considering the use and adaptation of an existing scale versus the development of a new scale based on these results. The manual will detail ways of considering different forms of validity (face, content, construct), including strategies for when there is no gold standard, and will build upon the HIV-specific DIME manual and lessons learned from many studies using the approach.
The manual will be accompanied by tutorial videos and example materials, all of which will be linked to our consultant technical services. We anticipate these manuals being useful for individuals planning measurement development studies or evaluation studies, and for organizations seeking to engage in greater stigma mitigation work.
